Ava awoke to the sound of knocking on her front door. She slipped herself out of bed and crept down the stairs, leaving the lights off. She was worried about who it could be, especially knowing there was a killer on the loose. A killer who had been killing her friends.

The floorboards began to creak as she slowly placed a foot upon the first step of the stairs. She paused momentarily, making sure to not make any more noise. She bent down to get a view of her front door, trying to get a glimpse of who might be knocking her door. There were two figures positioned at her front door, with blue flashing lights coming from behind them. Why would there be officers at my door at this time in the morning? She crept down a bit further, trying to keep the noise of her squeaky stairs to a minimum. The officer at the door knocked once more, before bending down to speak through her letterbox.

'Miss Lewis. Can you open the door? We've been sent to protect you.'

'Why? What's going on?' she asked the officer.

There was a pause before the police officer began to speak again. 'We'll let DCI Barnes explain. He's just pulled up out front,' he replied.

Ava rushed down the stairs knowing the only one she trusted was outside her house. She opened the door to see the two officers and between them, she could see DCI Barnes approaching. She pushed past the two officers and ran towards DCI Barnes.

'What is this all about?' she asked him.

'We believe there will be an attempt on your life,' he answered truthfully, not hiding a single thing from her. 'We've got you total police protection, day and night. Mia Clarke is our number one suspect and is still out there somewhere.'

'What? You think Mia did all this? Why?'

'Yes we do,' he replied. 'We don't know why yet, but we believe it has something to do with those tattoo's you all have. We need to ask you again. Are you part of some sort of cult?'

'No. We've already been through this. Why are you asking me this again?'

'I figured something out when I re-read each of the notes left on the victims,' Jacob announced. 'Sophie's note said 'Spirit'. Ella's said 'Earth' and tonight we found Willow Hall murdered, who also has the exact same tattoo as you all. She also was found with a note with the word 'Water' capitalised. Sophie is S for Spirit, Ella is E for Earth and Willow is W for Water. They are three of the five elements. We believe you could be her next target.'

She laughed nervously, 'So, you think I'm next? What element starts with A?'

'Air. And you are the only one with a name beginning with the letter A who has any relevance,' Jacob answered her question.

'Why is she doing this?' Ava began to sob and leaned into Barnes for a hug.
